Il Racconto
The Pacelli’s list
In the Vatican around Pope Pius XII there was a special office that had the aim of saving lives from the fury of the Nazis throughout the European continent. This is what emerges from the book ‘Pius XII and the Jews’ based on a series of documents contained in the Historical Archive of the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See. This was written by the director of the archive, Johan Ickx, who told us about the discovery of about 2,800 requests for help of over 4,000 Jews.
